Computer Information Technology

“Let all things be done decently and in order” (I Corinthians 14:40).

Our goal in the Verity computer department is to help equip students with the information they need to be successful in the technology field. Just as the Apostle Paul used his credentials to gain a hearing for the Gospel, so a properly trained Verity student will have not only what it takes to succeed in a computer occupation or ministry, but will also possess the expertise necessary to gain a hearing and make a difference for Christ.

The science of computers is theoretical, as are many other fields of science, and principles that apply to computing are often universal in nature and applicable to many other walks of life. For example, the hierarchical structure of computer data represents the idea that the small decisions in life will shape the larger ones, and in retrospect, every major decision is the byproduct of many small decisions that shape our capacity to judge correctly. The Lord used King Solomon to demonstrate the utility of converting career-related knowledge into applicable wisdom, and we feel that Verity provides an environment where students can learn to do the same.

Students in Verity’s Computer Information Technology program may choose from a number of concentrations offered by the various degree-granting institutions, including Information Security, Network Management, and Internet Technology for E-Commerce. Included with these degrees are several credential-type certifications recognized by the computer industry. The core requirements of this program will equip students with a firm grasp of fundamental technology principles, including topics such as computer architecture, high-level structured languages, data structures, and operating systems.

Since the Verity CIT program has such an intense course-load, we do have a set of suggested prerequisites that each new onsite CIT student should be able to meet before coming to Verity.

CIT Studies:

  • Statistics
  • Calculus
  • Database Management
  • Operating Systems
  • Object-Oriented Programming
