Letter from the Director
Dear Prospective Verity Student:
On behalf of our chancellor, Dr. Bill Gothard, my wife and I welcome you to the website of the Verity Institute, an innovative program of higher education, associated with the Institute in Basic Life Principles.
You are surfing our site at a most auspicious time in the history of our school. 2009–2010 marks the beginning of Verity’s ninth year. We believe that this year will be our best year ever!
We have a special tradition of beginning each academic year with a Sabbath rest. After eight years of dedication and hard work, which have seen over 300 students obtain an accredited degree within a biblical worldview, our incoming class takes a one-week “Journey to God’s Power” in the Northwoods of Michigan. This is a meaningful time to draw near to God and allow Him to draw near to us—wrapped in the beauty of His creation.
We are so thankful for the leadership of Dr. Gothard, our former directors Trent Thompson and Woody Shoemaker, and a host of faithful staff and students who have gone before us and laid a very strong foundation. We are eager to build on this foundation.
“But let each one take heed how he builds on it. For no other foundation can anyone lay, than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (I Corinthians 3:10-11). It is because of Jesus that we are here. The number one goal of Verity is to love the Lord Jesus Christ with all of our heart, all of our soul, all of our mind, and all of our strength. Whether we are seeking the Lord in the wilderness or studying literature in a classroom, we want to do it in a way that brings honor and glory to Jesus Christ. This is also true of our free time, mealtime, recreation and fellowship.
We hope you enjoy our website. If we can be of any service, please let us know. We also hope you have a chance to visit our beautiful twenty-five acre campus in Indianapolis, Indiana so we can meet you personally.
